Optimizing for SSE: A Case Study.

Just got that news from CFXWeb. Cort Stratton written an article about SSE optimizations. here you are some words from the tutorial :
“In this article I’ll be describing the process of optimizing a piece of code to make use of Intel’s SSE instruction set. As an example, I will work with a 4×4 matrix-vector multiplication function (commonly found in most 3D graphics engines). Starting from a naïve C++ implementation, I will progressively apply various optimization techniques, until the function is more than four times faster than its original version.”.

In far 1992 a folder on ftp.uwp.edu was created, it contained the first demo archive on the internet : Hornet FTP. After becoming the most complete demoscene archive Hornet then closed to uploads in 1998.
Today, to celebrate the 10th birthday of Hornet the admins are starting again the service. To help Hornet find is auge again try www.hornet.org, and mail r3cgm@yahoo.com to help uploading and restyling the famous site.

Cryo developers quitting.

A recent post on OGL GameDev was reporting a quite bad news coming directly form a Cryo developer, some developer at Cryo will quit their work. To be more precise Cryonetwork team will quit the development of their 3D Engine v4.0 (the one used for DuneGeneration) and also the v5.0 (already finished) won’t ever be released.
Sylvain Huet, the previous director of CryoNetwork it’s thinking about converting the engine to opensource and make it available to the community. Let’s see.
