0xaa COMPO RULES

Published by Delilah at 10:05 am under Uncategorized

NOTICE: All of your entries have to be sent to codex.stuff@gmail.com, NOT to the organizers addresses, or they will be disqualified. We did set up an account on purpose, so use it :)

The deadline is set to July the 1st, at 08.00 hours [rome]. If you encounter some problem, email us and we’ll see what we can do to help you the best way :)

What is a Compo?
Competitions [list follows] that take place at/during demoparties.
Everyone’s allowed to compete; make anyway sure you fully read and understood the rules, or your entry will be disqualified.

1. General Rules [also known as “rules that equally apply to ALL compos”]

a. Entries which we cannot get to run will be disqualified. You can anyway test your prod on the Compo Machine before the compo starts, so don’t panic.
b. E-mail entries have to be submitted at least 2 days before the party officially starts. Whether you’re late, you got some problem, or you simply have a damn good excuse for your delay, try by emailing the organizers and ask what to do. We’re not picky, and we see your problems.
c. If there are less than three entries for a compo, the given compo will either be cancelled or combined with another compo. We will ask you for permission before combining with another compo, and if the compo is cancelled or you don’t grant us permission to show your prods, of course they won’t be spread, so you can release them elsewhere or whatever.
d. Compo entries must not have been released before. Pure rips or copies will be kicked out of the competition without further notice.
e. Racism, blatant porn, child pornography, and any kind of content that violates Italian law and common good sense will be disqualified. We will neither make exceptions to this rule nor accept any objections.
f. We reserve our right to kick productions out of the competition, if we think them to be total crap or detestable, even in competitions without preselection. We do also reserve the right to skip long and boring parts in demos during the compos, especially scroller parts and endscrollers.
g. All shown entries will be spread.

2.4 Graphics [Truecolor (Freestyle), Rendered (3D), C64 Graphics]

GENERAL

1. Only one entry per artist and competition allowed. Co-ops are allowed.
2. We prefer you to deliver your entry in .bmp, .iff, .png or .tga format. That would be better than .jpg formats.

4. We will have a jury preselection before the compos. Entries that didn’t make it through the preselection can’t be voted for and won’t be spread.
5. Maximum resolution is 1024×768 pixels.
6. You must include 4 (four) working stages of your entry. All entries without working stages will be disqualified. The working stages should have the filename “step1.xxx”, “step2.xxx”, “step3.xxx” and “step4.xxx”, where xxx is the extension of whatever format you may want to use. 3D: Please do not deliver us .max files etc, refer to the list above. Screenshot the 3D environment with your object/scene from different angles + wireframe and it’s fine.
7. You must include a list of the tools used.
8. Please make sure that your entry is free of third-part rights! (For example, you may not include photographs if you don’t own the copyright or have a legal license for it).

* If your working stages don’t look plausible, your entry will be disqualified.

Rendered [3D]
* This is a competition meant for graphic 3d artists.
* Please do not deliver us .max files etc, refer to the list above. Screenshot the 3D environment with your object/scene from different angles + wireframe and it’s fine.
* If your working stages don’t look plausible, your entry will be disqualified.

C64 Graphics
* The entry has to be delivered as executable program (started with RUN) on a 5.25″ disk.
* Again, you must include 4 (four) working stages of your entry, and all entries without working stages will be disqualified.
* All formats/modes are allowed.
